                                                                                       Top Mount Sinks

                             Simply Elegant

The top mount sink is also known as a drop in or self rimming. These particular sinks where at one time the standard sink placed in most homes. This is due to the fact that they are a lot cheaper than other sink options and are very easy to install. Through a precut whole in the counter top, this sink is then” dropped in”, hence where it gets its name. The weight of the sink is supported by the counter itself and usually requires no other modifications once it is Caulked to seal out water and debris.

The downside to these types of sinks is the counter space that it takes up. Although it may only be 1 or 2 inches, if you are limited on counter space, those few inches mean a lot. Another downside is that you are unable to sweep water and other things directly into the sink due to the wide rim.

Although these are more of a standard cost effective sink for remodels or updates in kitchens and baths. In the past, they tended to have a dated look about them. Todays top mount sinks have proven to be durable, unique and look very elegant.

The Apron sink may also be referred to as a Farmhouse sink. These are in my opinion, some most beautiful sinks made. They are very eye-catching with their seamless flowing look. These sinks sit on top of the cabinet base. Running flush with the counter top itself to complete the look. The front of the sink sticks out a bit from the cabinet to reveal an exposed front. This gives it a unique timeless look with rustic farmhouse charm. One of the most distinguishing factors of the Farmhouse Apron sink is the option of a decorative pattern on the face giving details you won’t find in other traditional ones.

Many people are drawn towards this particular style due to the bonus of the sink being deeper and wider. It may also draw more attention to large families or homes without a dishwasher. With the seamless flush look, sweeping water or debris into the sink won’t be a problem.

Although these Apron sinks are beautiful, they may not be for everyone. They can be very costly and not to mention very heavy. They are an under mount type of sink. Giving that streamline look. Due to the weight, if you are doing a complete renovation it may be a good option because you can have the cabinets build to support the sink. If you are just doing upgrades this may prove to be a lot more intense labor and costlier due to the modifications needed to support it and possibly having to replace the whole counter top.

  Flush Mount Sink
             SEAMLESS BEAUTY

These flush mounts are known for their seamless flow from the sink itself to the counter top creating no visible edge. They are constructed from the same solid material as the counter top. A plus with this option is the space saved, easy when cleaning up and creates a more flowing look.

The cost of this style of flush mount sink tends to be rather expensive. Being a special custom order item only with the counter top purchase, if damaged during installation, replacement can be tough and harder on your wallet. You are not able to replace just the sink. The whole counter top and sink will have to be replaced again or reconstructed to accommodate a different style. Remember although the sink is made separate, it is still made from the same material as the counter top and molded together to create one piece.

There are several options to choose from in regard to the type of material choices. Depending on the overall look you are going after when doing a remodel/renovation or newly constructed home, will be the determining factor when choosing the right sink to flow with everything else. Here are a few of the different options to choose from.

*Stainless Steel

*Cast Iron

*Stone Composite

*Fire Clay

Choose a sink size that will coordinate well with your own style and needs. Make sure to choose not only a sink that looks great but one that will also be functional for your lifestyle and family.

*Single Bowl

*Double Bowl

*Work Station
